New Student Building at Rågelund Efterskole - A Modern Learning Environment Focused on Acoustics, Light, and Community.

The new student building at Rågelund Efterskole was designed with a clear goal: to provide students with an inspiring and functional home where well-being and community are at the center. Inside, the building features warm materials, natural light, and carefully considered acoustic solutions that create calm and comfort in everyday life.

Materials and Atmosphere
Wood is the key element – both visually and functionally. Light wooden panels create a Nordic, natural atmosphere, while acoustic regulation ensures a pleasant sound environment in common areas and corridors. The combination of wood and muted tones creates a warm and inviting ambiance that supports the school’s values of closeness and community.

Flexible Common Spaces
The building includes both shared areas and smaller zones where students can retreat. Large windows provide beautiful daylight and visual contact with nature. The interior design is flexible, allowing spaces to be used for group work, relaxation, and social activities.

With many students gathered under one roof, acoustics are crucial. Therefore, acoustic panels have been integrated into ceilings and walls to reduce noise levels and create a comfortable sound environment. This makes the building ideal for both learning and leisure – without distracting background noise.

The new student building is more than just a place to live – it is a modern learning environment where architecture, materials, and acoustics work together to create well-being and community.
