School in Lyngby
The Scene in Focus
Den Lille Skole places great emphasis on movement, music, and theatre, but the previous physical setting was not optimal. The school has now had the space renovated by architect Christian Liebmann Christensen, who has a keen sense for the interplay between space and the right materials.
The multipurpose room has been clad in oak slats, which have created a beautiful sense of cohesion while also ensuring good acoustics. The oak has a warm glow that has a calming effect on the senses. The precise wooden slats also provide a fine contrast to the visible beams in the ceiling, which are simultaneously highlighted as functional decoration.
The Stage at the Centre
The architectural firm worked in close collaboration with the school, advisors, and craftsmen, resulting in a highly fruitful process and, not least, a successful outcome. The wooden slats are stripe panels with oak on the surface and a black fabric backing. This solution for both walls and ceiling has provided effective sound dampening while also meeting strict fire safety requirements.
The multipurpose room now has significantly improved acoustics, making it possible to host larger concerts or theatre performances—or simply let the children enjoy themselves freely in the spacious room!
