Timber, Acoustics and Sustainability in Harmony

The new Sundskolen in Sundby, near Nykøbing Falster, provides the setting for a modern learning environment where wellbeing, indoor climate and sustainability have been key priorities throughout the project. The school is certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and was developed with the ambition of creating healthy and inspiring surroundings for both students and staff.

Acoustic Design by Frøslev supplied timber-based acoustic solutions throughout large parts of the building. Internally, peeled pine panels have been installed on both walls and ceilings across a range of common areas and learning environments.

The panels are produced both with and without perforations, contributing to a comfortable acoustic environment while adding warmth and character through the natural appearance of the timber. The combination of functionality and aesthetics supports the school's vision of creating positive conditions for learning and wellbeing.

Frøslev Embla® ThermoWood® has been installed on the exterior façades, adding a natural and timeless appearance while creating harmony with the surrounding landscape.

The result is a school building where architecture, acoustics and material selection work together to create optimal conditions for learning, wellbeing and community.
